I’m tired of companies wasting resources that could be used to actually improving their products instead of chasing the worst tech fad in a generation: “AI”. No one can really explain to me what their adding (read: it’s a chatbot) to their product that actually improves it (read: it doesn’t). As a result, I’m going to start divesting myself from these companies. The current list:

  • Because of an unremovable AI plugin in all their products, I will not be renewing my JetBrains license this year. Their product has become more unstable over the last couple years, and this latest move just shows their contempt for their customers.

  • Firefox is apparently also toying with adding “AI” to their product line. This one is tougher to replace, since it’s the last, least bad web browser on the market, but I’ll work to find a replacement for it as well.

  • I’m also going to move my code off of GitHub because of their copilot code-stealing feature. While collaboration is great, I’m not here to train your shit for free.
