An Outrage of National Dignity
According to today’s Washington Post,the Bush Administration has drafted legislation that would change the War Crimes Act, the legislation that codifies into U.S. law the Geneva Conventions, to eliminate references to “outrages upon personal dignity.” The draft legislation, according the Post, would essentially rewrite the Geneva Conventions, since the Conventions prohibit, among other things, “humiliating and degrading treatment.”
