A Better Visual Keyboard
One of the things I’ve noticed after 2.5 years of iPhone ownership is that the QWERTY keyboard is not designed for little fingers. While Apple has graciously included an automatic spellcheck program that corrects many typos, many go unchanged because the typo is itself a word. The more I’ve worked with this tiny keyboard, the more I’ve noticed how many words are one key away.
I think it may be time to develop a new software keyboard that fixes this problem. A keyboard that maintains the same physical key location but moves the letters to space out so that fat fingers are a smaller reason for typos.
Maybe if I find time one day, I’ll develop such a keyboard.
iPhone 3.0 “Captive Portal” Solution is Security Risk
The remote-exploit blog is reporting that Apple’s iPhone 3.0 creates a security risk by automatically opening the Safari web browser when the system detects a captive portal.
The exploit would require a hostile network, but this threat is very real for people who “steal” other user’s unsecured wireless network access.
