The A380 Has Landed

25 October 2007 | 09h11

Although fraught with production delays, the first Airbus A380 delivered to Singapore Airlines has made its first commercial flight from Singapore to Sydney. Passengers love it, and analysts love to hate it. According to the BBC article, the A380 may not be a hit because “rival Boeing has more than 700 orders for its forthcoming 787 Dreamliner.”

Perhaps, but number of A380s in service: 1. Number of 787s: 0.

Finale: Judge who sued dry cleaner to become former judge who lost against dry cleaner

24 October 2007 | 21h48

As a final chapter to the “pants” saga, the Washington Post is reporting that Judge Roy Pearson will not be receiving his 10-year position as an administrative law judge in Washington, DC.
Nothing like closure.
I previously discussed the Pearson case here and here.

Microsoft to Commission: You Win

22 October 2007 | 10h35

Microsoft, the perennial whipping boy of the industrialized world, announced today that it will not contest the ECJ ruling against it. This seems to be tacit acquiescence on the part of Redmond that it is not the 800-pound gorilla anymore.

Alternative Dispute Resolution

18 October 2007 | 11h22

I’m a big fan of using alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a means of civilly resolving problems. When I think of ADR, however, I think of mediation, conciliation, or arbitration.

I don’t think so much about hand tools

A Beautiful Distraction

| 11h06

Or, Sarko’s on the market.

Shortly after a debilitating transit strike in France, a spokesman from palais de l’Élysée announced that M. Sarkozy and his wife, who had not been seen in public with the French President for weeks, have divorced by mutual agreement.

The ploy appears to be working. Most of the French papers are devoting an enormous amount of attention to the issue, although not necessarily giving the lead. If only the US could learn from this…

Oh wait.
