Canvas is easy to work with, but the included "blocks" (static modules) and plugins (modules with settings) are a bit lacking. Because of the modular nature of Canvas, I've had to write my own simple modules where needed. Thankfully, the blocks are easy to write. I have not had as much luck writing the plugin. From what I gather, there are some bugs that need to be resolved. I am impressed with the ease of use of the system. The drag-and-drop nature of the blocks is a fantastic way to design layout.
